The mission of Allies in Change Counseling Center is to raise awareness of, educate about, and encourage the practice of healthy, loving and respectful relationships with oneself, one’s partner and family, and the community. As our name reflects, Allies in Change intends to promote working with others as allies. We acknowledge that some cultural values such as traditional definitions of gender roles and power undermine a person’s ability to be fully loving in relationships. We seek to address and change these values on individual, familial and societal levels. As an agency, we seek to practice these values ourselves in both our professional and personal lives.

Standard fees:
We are covered by a variety of insurance plans. We are happy to check on your insurance benefits and what your actual out of pocket expense will be for any of these services, prior to meeting with someone. Call us with your insurance information and we can check on that for you. We offer a sliding scale fee for our groups for individuals without insurance who are unable to afford the full fee. We have a graduate student who is offering individual and couples counseling for just $20-$40/session, depending on income. We offer one very low cost abuse intervention group for non-court-mandated men at a different location for $3-$20/week with a $10 individual intake required. For more information about any of our services or to schedule an appointment, you can call us at (503) 297-7979. Phones are typically answered 8:00-7:00 Monday-Friday. You are also welcome to contact us via email at allies@alliesinchange.org. |

We offer men’s groups for men dealing with anger, abusive behavior, and/or domestic violence. We offer women’s groups for women dealing with anger, abusive behavior, and/or domestic violence. We offer a 12 week parenting class for men who have been abusive in the home in the past. We are the only agency in the Portland metro area offering domestic violence evaluations to address concerns around the role of domestic violence in a person’s life, as a victim or as a perpetrator. We offer trainings and community education for professionals, agencies, and other organizations on a variety of issues. A partial list of training areas include: understanding domestic violence, risk assessment, and managing stress. Fees for these trainings vary and some are offered at no cost, depending on the topic and audience. We offer a 40 hour training on working with abusive men twice a year. This training meets the state requirements for individuals facilitating batterer intervention groups. Contact our office to find out when the next training is scheduled and for registration information. We offer our services at two locations: our primary office is in the Cedar Hills area, near the intersection of Hwys 26 and 217. We are also only a 10 minute walk from the Sunset transit center Max stop. We also offer some services at a second smaller office in the Hollywood area of Portland, at 3800 Business Center at 38th and NE Sandy. |
